Stay Safe at Work Today and Every Day

Our Health & Safety Management System Corporate Bank is designed to help ensure all employees of Yukon Government have the tools they require to stay safe at work.

Winter Driving Skills

Improve your winter driving skills by completing driving exercises on an ice covered skid track. The winter driving course is suitable for all drivers from beginners to experienced. This one day course covers preparing your vehicle and yourself for winter driving. Common winter driving challenges are also covered, including how different vehicles react to snow and ice. Winter driving techniques are explained in the classroom and then skill building exercises are practiced on a skid track.

  • Participants require their own vehicle for practical exercises (studded tires are not permitted).
  • Students must hold a valid Class 5 drivers license.
  • Class 7 driver's license also permitted, but students must be able to drive out to site to participate in the practical portion of the training.
  • Please note the practical portion of this training is held in Ibex Valley, which is outside of city limits approximately 25 minutes from downtown Whitehorse.

Cost: $375 ($100 of this enrollment can be subsidized by HSDM.  See reimbursement steps).
